How To Stop Snoring
Are you offended by your spouse’s snoring or your own? Maybe you’re
one of the many people who snore really loud and are embarrassed by it.
You aren’t alone. Millions of people snore every night and really wish
that they didn’t. Well, it’s not as hard as you think to quit snoring.
People like to think of snoring as a disease, but it’s really not.
Snoring is just something that happens, a noise that is from the tissues
in your throat vibrating from not having enough space for the air to
flow freely through your passages. The last thing you want to do is be
on a plane or in another public place and have a snoring attack for the
world to hear. Here are a few tips that may help.
Your snoring problem may not be as serious as you think. You need to
make sure you are getting enough sleep to function during the day. You
have to build energy to store it. You should be getting at least 8 hours
of sleep every night. That’s an adequate amount of sleep. How you sleep
is also a factor of how you snore, why you snore, and how loud you
snore. When you’re ready to get into bed for the night, try sleeping on
your side. Sleeping on your side reduces the tissues in your throat from
rattling and making that annoying noise we know as snoring. You can also
elevate your head with a pillow no more than 4 inches and see how that
works for you. Another way to prevent snoring is changing your
lifestyle. You don’t have to stop everything cold turkey. It’s really
simple. All you have to do is not drink, smoke or eat certain foods
before bed. Try to put yourself on a schedule so you will be to estimate
what time you will be going to bed. You should free yourself from all of
these things at least 2-3 hours before getting into bed. Weight loss is
another issue. If you are overweight, you may want to try and lose a few
pounds. Believe it or not, this could help you stop snoring. Losing
weight will increase the space and airflow through your air passage. Try
not to eat a big meal before bed. You will want to avoid eating rich
foods. These are usually the fatty foods. You will also want to stay
clear of dairy products and baked goods before going to bed. You may
also want to switch out your pillows. If you have a pillow that’s not so
firm, you’ll want to get a new one. A pillow that is firm holds your
head at just about the right level to prevent snoring. The pillow
shouldn’t be so firm that it’s uncomfortable to sleep on and get rest at
night. You might also want to inhale some steam before you go to bed for
about 15-30 minutes. You can also do this by taking a shower to prevent
snoring.
